Zumwalt (DDG 1000) 1/4 Scale Model Testing (ATC)
FIRST-EVER WATERBORNE TESTING OF Zumwalt (DDG 1000) QUARTER-SCALE MODEL -- Northrop Grumman, lead the DDG 1000 through Phase III of the U.S. Navy's next-generation destroyer program, has fulfilled another major requirement for DDG 1000 by designing, building and testing a 150-foot long, 126-ton quarter-scale hull model. This quarter-scale model, based on the design of the full-sized ship, recently underwent a series of underwater explosion testing at the U.S. Army's Aberdeen Test Center in Maryland. This testing validated the DDG 1000 hullform, and demonstrates that the DDG 1000 hull will fully meet the U.S. Navy's operational requirements.
